At your clinic appointment, you will meet with your surgeon for a specialist assessment and to discuss the best way to manage your symptoms.

 

Your surgeon will work closely with your cardiologist, GP, and any other health professionals involved in your care to make sure everyone is informed and supporting you throughout your journey.

 

During your appointment, you may talk about:

 

• How you are feeling and any pain you may have

• A review of your symptoms

• Your past medical history

• The treatment options available to you

If surgery is needed, you will also discuss it in detail. This is your chance to discuss what to expect, and ask any questions you may have.

 

We respect and value your cultural needs and preferences. If you would like a translator or interpreter, please let us know and we will arrange this for you.

 

To make things easier, some appointments may also be available through telehealth, depending on your needs and your surgeon’s advice.

If you require surgery, we will work with you to arrange an operation date that is suitable for you and your whānau, taking into account the availability of our surgical team and theatre.
